Produced from 114-year old vines on Martinis Monte Rosso Vineyard, this wine captures the concentrated, deeply flavored Zinfandel characters that are unique to these gnarled vines. The quality of this mountain fruit more than makes up for the small crops, producing intensely flavored wine with excellent balance.

Dusty, Eucalyptus dominates the spice in this hearty Zin. There are also notes of cracked pepper (tho not alot), and blackberries. For the same cost tho, I prefer a hearty Sonoma Zin, like the '96 Monte Rosso from Ravenswood or '97 Dry Creek Teldeschi.
