Winemaker's Notes

Le Dix has a deep and bright red robe. The nose displays ripe and intense red and black fruit aromas with a good level or ripeness that ensures lasting freshness. Ageing in barrels made at DBR/ Lafite's cooperage grants the wine nice toasty, coffee, and cinnamon notes that perfectly combine with blackcurrant, blueberry, cherry, and blackberry, and blend with licorice, dark chocolate, peppermint, and black and white pepper. Intense mouthfeel, good volume and body. Delicate and elegant tannins. Round, consistent, and pleasant finish.

Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Carmenère, 5% Syrah

Critical Acclaim

"For price and quality, Le Dix 2010 takes things to a high level. The nose on this Cabernet-led blend is full of violet, lilac, cassis and mild oak. The palate is multilayered and has a complex feel to it, while flavors of baked berry, cassis, coffee and marzipan finish with size and length. This is one of the most balanced and complete versions of Le Dix to date. Drink from 2014–2022."
93 Points

"The aromas of this are complex with currants and blackberries with rose petal and hints of sweet tobacco. This is extremely balanced and harmonious with pretty fruit and hints of sandalwood and 85% cabernet sauvignon, 10% carmenere, and 5% syrah. 18 months in barrel, mostly new oak. "
93 Points

"Inky ruby. Pungent smoke- and spice-accented aromas of cherry compote, redcurrant and cured tobacco, with suave vanilla and clove nuances gaining strength with air. Juicy and precise, offering intense red berry and bitter cherry flavors that take on sweetness with air. Dusty tannins come on late and add shape to the very long, sweet, incisive finish. This wine has the balance to age."

Learn About Los Vascos Map ItMap It

Los Vascos traces its roots to approximately 1750 and to the original vineyard of Miguel Echenique. The vineyard passed down through the family throughout the succeeding centuries. The acquisition of 50% of Los Vascos by Rothschild (Lafite) in 1988 was the result of a careful search among more than one hundred Chilean wines for one that could meet their criteria for excellence. A...

Learn About Chile

(CHEE-lay) Long and thin, Chile has a lot of land north to south. The wine region here is a series of districts based near Santiago. The vineyards are protected by the Pacific on the west and the Andes mountains on the east. This could help explain why the climate changes more from east to west than north to south - also why the country has remained phylloxera free....

Learn About Cabernet Sauvignon

(cab-uhr-NAY sow-veeh-yawn) King of Red Many refer to Cabernet Sauvignon as the king of red grapes. Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
