Our name, Long Boat, is inspired by Polynesian explorers who reached New Zealand over 800 years ago in long boats made to travel across thousands of miles of turbulent ocean. Their adventurous journeys constituted unbelievable feats of courage and intelligence. Inspired by their story of risking all for a new world, we've ventured beyond the tide of conventional Marlborough viticulture by sourcing fruit exclusively from hillside vineyards. Sitting pretty on the northern tip of New Zealand's south island, Marlborough has become synonymous with New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. As well it should be – Marlborough is the primary region for those delicious, citrusy, summer-lovin' wines with vibrant acidity and pungent, grassy, grapefruit flavors. Sauvignon Blanc is the main grape here; Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling are also made.
