Lokoya Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
from Napa Valley, California
Along the eastern side of the Napa Valley's Vaca Range, Howell Mountain peaks at 2,500 feet. Since 1995, Lokoya has crafted a distinguished Cabernet Sauvignon from our estate vineyard on Howell Mountain. Surrounded by redwoods and towering pine trees, our Keyes Vineyard personifies the appellation's cool climate and long growing season,
challenging the vines to ripen. At a steep 1,900 foot elevation with a northwest-facing slope, the Lokoya block has soil that boasts a combination of large sandstone rocks, volcanic ash, red clay and conifer bio-matter, lending itself to the
density and texture of the wine while revealing an earthy and herbal perfume.
Jack London's use of language invites you to explore wild places that have a unique depth and beauty. He offers a tapestry of emotion that underscores the breath of the story you are reading.
The 2007 Lokoya Howell Mountain creates
that same feeling with incredible dark fruit components of blackberry and boysenberry, espresso bean, minerality, smoke, and spice. The complexity of flavor is an unmistakable evocation of the Howell Mountain landscape.
"Classic aromas of graphite, crushed rocks, boysenberries, black raspberries, blackberries, and subtle wood soar from
the glass of the inky/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain. Full-bodied and formidably endowed
with awesome purity as well as a stunning, layered texture, this beauty has it all. Give it 5-6 years of bottle age and
enjoy it over the next three decades. It is a prodigious Howell Mountain wine from Jess Jackson’s Keyes Vineyard."
