Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

More fruit forward than previous vintages, the 2009 Courtney's Chardonnay is both opulent and lively. The nose is fresh and vibrant with apples, toast, grilled almonds and guava. The palate is lush and firm with substantial weight and length.

Critical Acclaim

"A fine Chardonnay, creamy, flavorful and complex. It's as soft as buttercream, yet a vital streak of acidity brightens the tropical fruit and vanilla richness. Showcases the Santa Rita Hills in a good, cool vintage."
