The 2007 vintage of Overlooks represents a blend of 22 separate vineyards from some of California's finest sites for this varietal. A few of the well know vineyards in this blend are Sangiacomo (Carneros), Sleepy Hollow (Monterey), Bien Nacido (Santa Barbara), and Beltane (Sonoma Valley). 2007 presented us with an ideal growing season and the result is agruably our finest Overlook Chardonnay.
Wine Spectator - "Green apple, floral, lime and citrus blossom scents give this full-bodied Chardonnay a distinctive edge. Crisp and flinty, ending with wet stone. Drink now through 2012."
Wilfred Wong of Wine.com - "Burnished gold hue. Fresh aromas of orange zest, toasted oak and caramel. Forward peach and apricot fruit infused with vanilla, caramel and toasted oak. The finish is balanced and lengthy with a drying minerality joining the mélange."
Connoisseurs' Guide - "Its pulpy apple and pear aromas are nicely mated to creme brulee oak in a nose that is both juicy and energetic at the same time. It is quite ripe without bowing to excess, and while it is full and even a tad on the fleshy side on the palate, it finds its bright fruit and brisk acid keeping things in balance. Try serving it with cracked crab, sauteed scallops or one of the sweeter white fishes to allow both its fruit and its vitality to show off."

Landmark Vineyards was founded in 1974 in Windsor, California. In 1989, Damaris Deere Ford, became sole proprietor and relocated the winery to Sonoma Valley. Ford is a descendant of John Deere, founder of the world's largest tractor manufacturer. Landmark Vineyards is located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Sonoma Valley. In 1993, world-renowned consulting enologist Helen Turley was hired to work with former winemaker, Eric Stern. Landmark Vineyard's mission is "to make great wines that enhance the joy of life." Twice as large as Napa in size, Sonoma County only makes about a half the amount of wine as her northeasterly neighbor. But Sonoma, with her size, is able to vouch for more diversity within her borders, including sub-AVAs that are climatically varied. The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the Joneses, or Napa-ites if you will. Grape varieties are more varied here, from Pinot Noir and Zinfandel to Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
Notable FactsThe largest sub-AVAs of Sonoma include Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley and Sonoma Valley. Each sub-AVA, with its own micro-climate, is unique in its grape varieties and styles of wine. Dry Creek makes a mean Zinfandel while Russian River produces stand up Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Alexander Valley makes some of the better Cabernet Sauvignons in the county and Sonoma Valley creates excellent wines from all the above varieties. Other grapes found throughout Sonoma include Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Syrah.

Alcohol By Volume GuideMost wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
