Rhone Red Blends from Rhone, France
This blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault grapes has produced a typical Rhône Valley style; full of fruit and spice aromas, it has soft tannins and good body.

La Vieille Ferme Winery
Jean Pierre Perrin established La Vieille Ferme over 35 years ago, when he chose to produce an inexpensive, straightforward Rhône wine to sell by direct mail to French wine lovers. He used the same grape varieties in similar proportions to those planted at the family's Château de Beaucastel, in a similar vinification process. The result was an immediate success in France, a wine of character and style in keeping with its Beaucastel heritage.
Initially, Jean Pierre made only Côtes du Rhône, but steeply rising grape prices in 1976 caused him to switch to Côtes du Ventoux and eventually to produce a white wine from the mountainous Côtes du Luberon. La Vieille Ferme was introduced to the United States in 1970. The response was an immediate, overwhelming acceptance and an outpouring of critical acclaim from eminently knowledgeable critics who recognized La Vieille Ferme for its consistently fine quality and value. About France - Other regionsWhen it comes to wine, France is a classic. Classic blends, grapes and styles began in the country and they still remain. Think about it - people ask for a Burgundian style Pinot Noir, they refer to wines as Bordeaux or Rhone blends - Champagne even had to pass a law to stop international wineries from putting their region on the label of all sparkling wine.
The top regions of France are: Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Languedoc-Roussillon, Loire, Rhone. And these regions are so diverse! It makes sense that wine regions throughout the world try to emulate their style. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are no longer French varieties, but international varieties. They may not be the leader of cutting edge technology or value-priced wines, but there is no doubt that they are still producing wines of great quality and diversity.

It is so versitile - smooth, not too heavy, and pairs well with many foods. A friend of mine, who lived in France for many years, and has a very sophisticated palate for food and wine, had a glass at my house one evening. He inquired about the wine and said it was quite good - and was surprised to learn that it was priced under 8 dollars a bottle. I wasn't sure if he was being kind, until I saw that he recommended this to another friend as the red wine to serve at their wedding!411/11/2010Nice table wine. Not heavy, not too light. Took first taste after an Irish cheese and was worried about the quality. Second tast followed a garlic hummus and totally changed the flavor. Pair it with meat, garlic roasted anything. For the price twist the top and have it again tomorrow.
Alcohol By Volume GuideMost wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer.
