winemaker's notes:
An extremely long hang time and very warm fall weather combined to produce our intensely flavored 1997 Syrah. Ripe blackberry and jammy raspberry flavors dominate the wine. Small amounts of Viognier and Grenache add spice and complexity to the blend. Enjoyable now with barbecue fare, it will match well with more subtly flavored cuisine as it matures

A Customer
This inky-black Rhône-style blend has huge, rich aromas of blackberry pie and peach cobbler. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich, with loads of ripe blackberry fruit. It has lovely nuances of black pepper, floral notes, and an excellent structure - firm tannins and acidity give the wine excellent balance, and should contribute to good ageability. The finish is long, rich and jammy, with enough tannin to call for rich foods or further cellaring. Drink now with a rich stew or roast, or in 5-7 years with lamb or a nice ripe Brie or Camembert.
