Kilikanoon Prodigal Grenache 2001

This wine was produced from fruit sourced entirely from the 'Blocks Road' vineyard. A big Grenache style and has the cellaring potential of at least 8 years. This wine has intense cherry red to brick red colors, with subtle youthful crimson tints. The nose shows perfumed aromas of cherries, chocolate and leather, which combines well with the dusty, slightly spicy oak flavors. The palate has rich cherry and chocolate flavors. Although dry, the wine possesses a real 'sweet fruit' character that is reinforced by the warm alcohol finish. Subtle oak flavors and firm tannins produce a wine that is balanced with pronounced flavor & persistence.
