Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
This Cabernet has distinct flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and both red and black currants with enticing fragrances of mocha and nutmeg. Subtle
notes of chocolate and toasty vanillins add to the richness and length of this bold Cab, and are accompanied by fine grained tannins on a lengthy finish.
"The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Reserve comes from K-J’s holdings in Sonoma, primarily Knights Valley. Composed of 94.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.4% Petit Verdot and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged primarily in French oak although some American oak is utilized, this is a powerful, rich, concentrated and convincing effort for a 2011. Deep cassis flavors intermixed with cedarwood, vanillin, spice box and licorice emerge from this medium to full-bodied, ripe, attractive wine."

The result, first released in 1983, was Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay, a rich, round and flavorful wine, made with hand-crafted...

But Sonoma, with her size, is able to vouch for more diversity within her borders, including sub-AVAs that are climatically varied. The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the...

Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
