Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

In the beginning days of their winemaking, the Juvé y Camps family had their own reserve of this cava, the only Brut Nature that they made. Later, it was released to the market under the same name and with the same careful creation. This cava is produced from the free run juice of Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada grapes harvested on the estate's properties at Espiells, Can Massana and La Cuscona. It is the best known of Juve's cavas and still their only Brut Nature.

The nose is deep, intense and appealing, initially evoking notes of mature white fruits. Gradually, it's complexity grows and the aromas typical of long ageing appear It is wonderfully reminiscent of toasted bread with background hints of citrus. The Reserva de la Familia, with its freshness and ripeness, suits the palate perfectly. Pair with paté, seafood, rice, and all kinds of fish, white meat and smoked food.

Critical Acclaim

"A fine Cava at a very good price. As a brut nature, it’s extremely fresh and clean-cut, with light aromas of vanilla bean, dried white fruits and very little in the way of lees or egg aromas. Active bubbles and a crisp finish allow it to achieve its goals. "

Over two hundred years ago, Joan Juve Mir, a bold and enterprising vine grower with ideas way ahead of his time, laid the foundations of what would become the family firm. He began the task which was carried on by his son, Antoni Juve Escaiola, who, amongst other...

The third largest country in production, Spain ranks first in land under vine. Diversity and innovation are the key factors bringing Spain back into the world wine market. The most popular red varieties of Spain include Tempranillo and Garnacha (Grenache). Whites don't garner quite as much recognition, but there are some regional varieties not to be missed, like Albarino...

Learn About Vintage

Vintage Champagne and Sparkling Wines Vintage Champagne is made in particularly good years with optimum weather and the best grape selection. Some houses, like Dom Perignon, only make vintage Champagne, so they do not produce a wine every year and have no non-vintage bottlings. What makes vintage Champagne better? Well, status for one - many vintage Champagnes are...
