white wine style:
Light & Crisp Fruity & Smooth Rich & Creamy
winemaker's notes:

An outstanding wine. Pale yellow color. Complex floral nose of white lilac and white rose. Once open, fruity aromas come to the fore, evolving towards grilled hazelnut and almond. When the wine is more mature, the nose is surprisingly strong and fifteen minutes of aeration produce wonderful notes of white truffle, citron (cedrat), honey and nutmeg, elegantly meshed together. Very lively on the palate. Its rich texture is in evidence, but also its structure and minerality. It is round, but never heavy. Harmonious fullness in the aftertaste. This wine allies remarkably the complexity and elegance of a Bâtard-Montrachet with the power of a Corton-Charlemagne.

critical acclaim:

"The 2009 Beaune Clos des Mouches is quite round and seamless for a young Beaune. Yellow stone fruits and minerals are some of the notes that wrap around the palate in this striking white from Drouhin. I especially like to focus and energy of the finish. Though fabulous today, I am very curious to see where the 2009 might be headed over the coming years. In 2009 the estate picked the fruit from this site in nine separate passes. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. "

The Wine Advocate

"The last vestiges of reduction detract only mildly from the otherwise nuanced and welllayered aromas of peach, citrus and white flowers. The rich flavors retain a fine sense of definition as well as a subtle minerality on the suave, silky and explosively long finish. This is a wine of harmony and grace that should age well."

"Bright yellow. Lemon-lime, peach nectar, spearmint, vanilla and acacia flower on the nose. Juicy and intense but not hard, with a firm acid spine giving life to the flavors of lemon zest, vanilla and spices. Nicely round and surprisingly approachable for this bottling. Finishes with good length but does it have a hidden dimension?"
