Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This is a wonderful occasion to savor a great wine. It is an admirable light golden color. Intense and elegant aromas come to the forefront: hawthorn, apricot notes, evolving towards hints of blond tobacco. As the wine ages, there are nuances of dried fruit and rare spices. A silky texture and a subtle touch of tannin give a true personality to the wine and a remarkable aftertaste. A great white Burgundy!

Critical Acclaim

"A wonderful, ripe wine, full of yellow fruits, textured with apple skins and a powerful edge of minerality. It shows power and concentration while offering smooth, rounded fruit flavors that also pack intense acidity and toast. For aging."
93 Points

"Though glycerol-like in texture, this is more angular in its approach, with vivid acidity driving the lime, baked apple, almond and mineral flavors. Offers fine intensity and length. Best from 2013 through 2022."
92 Points

"Ripe aromas of white flowers and white truffle. Boasts a bigger structure and more intensity than the village wines, with sound acidity giving a penetrating quality to the peach, apricot and crushed stone flavors. This is quite suave."
