Winemaker's Notes

The wine is deep red brick in color. The nose displays subtle oak with plums, blackberry and a hint of mint. The palate is soft, with ripe berry fruits, supple tannins, licorice and well balanced oak.

Cellaring has benefited this wine immensely and it is drinking superbly. As with all aged reds, the wine will benefit from decanting a short time before consuming.

Critical Acclaim

"Dark red. Smoky, open nose offers powerfully ripe kirsch, dark berry and plum aromas complemented by dried herbs, rose and cured tobacco. Supple and sweet, the dark berry flavors a tad spirituous but betraying no harshness. The tannins have fallen away, revealing a creamy, lightly roasted blackberry and plum personality. This would be an excellent companion to aged beef or venison."
91 Points

"A river of black cherry and espresso coffee flavor flows though this wine and ends at roast duck. Not particularly complex, this is dark, rich and feels complete. Ready to enjoy."
91 Points

"Medium to full red-purple; a typically fragrant and lush bouquet with a mix of berry, mint, cedar, tobacco and spice is followed by a plush palate ranging through all of the flavours of the bouquet with chocolate and mint to the fore; the oak is controlled, as are the tannins."
