Winemaker's Notes

Breathe in a wonderful bouquet of peach, apricot, orange blossom and jasmine, with floral hints that can only bring smiles. Your first sip will find a market basket of fresh fruits, a mélange of lemon, apple, peach and pineapple with a rich mouthfeel and good acid balance. The traditional light varietal petrol nose adds complexity and authenticity. This, my inaugural release as the Jekel winemaker, has the perfect off-dry balance for many spicy Asian foods. I know you'll enjoy this wine.

The Jekel Riesling wine is something I first tried at a quaint restaurant in the River Oaks area of Houston. I sampled several, and this one stuck out the most. It had a sweet, yet not too sweet flavor that allowed me to enjoy every sip. Great wine!

Learn About Jekel

Founded in 1972 by Bill Jekel, one of the first growers to see Monterey's potential for wine excellence, Jekel Vineyards released its first vintage (a Johannesburg Riesling) in 1978 and continues to be recognized as a pioneer in Monterey winemaking.

Bill's tireless passion for winemaking and all things Monterey led to Monterey's designation as a American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 1984, literally putting Monterey on the winemaking map.

Today, Jekel is known for crafting exquisitely distinctive varietals from Riesling and Chardonnay to Cabernet and Pinot Noir.
