Jean-Luc Colombo Viognier La Violette 2003
from Languedoc-Roussillon, France
The "Domaine de Salente" is an old property of 38 hectares (100 acres) situated 25 miles from Montpellier in the Languedoc region. Jean-Luc Colombo has been the consulting oenologist of the domaine since 1988, the first to plant Viognier in the area.
100% Viognier, low yields of about 35hl/hectare (15hl/acre).
All the grapes come from 45 year-old vines. 30% of the wine is matured in one and two-year-old barrels; 70% in stainless steel tanks.
Brilliant, light straw.
The nose offers intense aromas of acacia, yellow peaches and exotic fruits.
Very elegant and harmonious, its freshness allows the fruit to fully develop.
A seductive wine to be enjoyed with appetizers and hors d'oeuvres.
