Item No. 6619
winemaker's notes:

This fine Spanish sparkling wine is made using the Traditional Method, in which the secondary fermentation producing a sparkling wine’s bubbles occurs in the bottle. Its fresh, toasty nose, beautiful citrus, green apple and mineral flavors, supple, lively mouth-feel, and clean, crisp finish make it the ultimate celebratory wine. Enjoy it on its own and with caviar, sushi, seafood, fried foods and Asian dishes

Varietal Blend: 50% Macabeo, 35% Parellada, 15% Xarel-lo<

alcohol by volume: 11.5%
critical acclaim:

"Bright yellow. Aromas of orange, pineapple and pear, plus a hint of musky herbs. Juicy and very fruity, with crisp acidity and a sharp element of orange zest adding a bitter touch. Finishes clean and brisk, with modest persistence and an echo of candied citrus fruits. This is an incredible value in sparkling wine."

For the life of me, if you don't like dry or bubbly, why would you buy what is clearly described as a dry, sparkling white wine? This is a GREAT wine with a price that makes it a nice, every day white. I keep several bottles on hand, and it's always a hit with friends and family. Even my pickiest guests have called later to ask, "What was that great wine you served?!" Just today, I was asked to bring a few bottles to a Christmas party. This has become my husband's and my "every day" wine, and as a previous review stated, it makes for a fantastic mimosa. I highly recommend it.
rating (9/29/2010):
Very drinkable straight from the bottle or in a champagne cocktail, and it won't break the bank if you're giving it to a crowd. Makes great mimosas too.
rating (9/28/2010):

Bought this wine for serving after holiday dinner. Tasted it and was highly impressed. Have since purchased a case each week for hostess and holiday gift giving. Excellent wine which easily rivals Chandon White Star at 1/4 the price. I certainly expect a tremendous increase in the price and soon!
rating (9/27/2010):
I purchased a bottle of the Brut Sparkling wine and was very disappointed. The smell of the wine was very good and the first taste was good, but subsequent sips gave me the taste of "motor oil". I was very disappointed. Needless to say I threw out the bottle. I have had other inexpensive sparkling wines and never had that taste before. The Monmousseau is very good and in that price range. Has anyone else had this taste sensation?
rating (1/1/2011):
Cheap but flat. Got it on sale for under $4.99. Maybe even 3 bucks. Wouldn't buy it again unless it was to be mixed with O.J. for a large party.
rating (9/29/2010):
A fruity, citrusy sparkling wine that is not too sweet. Great light taste.
rating (9/28/2010):
I have purchased this wine several times and it is an inexpensive, very dry sparkling wine that will go with any number of dishes or stand alone. Great to keep on hand for any occasion.
rating (9/28/2010):
I'd classify this as a good value wine. This is a good choice for someone who wants to serve a large quantity of champagne-style wine without spending a fotune on their friends. It's not too sweet like other inexpensives sparklers.
rating (9/28/2010):
I try to avoid cheap sparkling wine, as it usually has either a strange "stale candy" taste, or a strange aftertaste. But Cristalino is unbelievable. Prosecco-like and delicious. Highly recommended. The rose is great, too.
rating (9/27/2010):
There is a reason this wine has won "Best value in America" for threeyears running. It is very smooth and drinkable, with a pleasant finish. If you need a lot of bubbly for a special occasion, you cannot go wrong with a few cases of this wine. Personally, I prefer the regular to the rose, but I know many people who enjoy the latter.

...and 97% of the populus would not be able to do more than guess which was which in a blind taste test! Of course, "gansta rappers" with gold chains on MTV don't allude to it's status of having enough "benjamins" to waste on it so... yeah. What can one say except; it IS dry, it does NOT go well with your thanksgiving meal (unless you don't want to taste the wine much at all), and Mimosa's, while yummy, do not constitute "tasting" this terrific sparkler. It is simply an AMAZING value, and THEE answer to saving a bundle on your wedding reception (or any gala event), while still serving a GREAT sparkling wine. Personally I prefer Krug to Cristal anyday for a $250 Champagne (that someone else is paying for), Perrier Jouët NV (if I'm OKay with $30 for the impression made with a "true" Champagne) and the Segura Viudas Heredad Cava NV (also from Espain) for a best value (@$15) but at $5.99 (Cost Plus World Market)! WoW! How can they do it!? Gracias España!

An excelent general purpose dinner wine.
rating (2/12/2013):

A delightfully refreshing sparkle to enjoy anytime . . . This has become a definite favorite and it's time to reorder! Touch of orange juice for a mimosa morning, goes well with a quiet luncheon or a first course accompaniment with dinner. Serious or just for fun? Pairs well with a good book on a rainy afternoon. Guests often ask about this pleasant sparkling flavor from Spain . . .
rating (12/21/2012):
This is our go-to and party sparkling wine. It is nice, clean with a slight bit of acid (what can you say, at this price?). It has either more or larger bubbles than some others I have had, which makes it good for Bellinis, or Mimosas, too. All in all, highly recommended.

rating (12/4/2011):
I'm not a big white wine or champagne drinker. My preference leans towards deep, velvety reds. So! I was happily surprised to find how much I enjoyed this lovely, sparkly white wine. Dry. Not too sweet. No cloying aftertaste. Yummy on it's own or mixed in a champagne cocktail. And VERY reasonably priced. Great for hostess or holiday gifts. Perfect to serve with brunch or any other meal that needs a happy, light wine.
rating (8/27/2011):

Great for the price. A tad drier than I wanted it to be since I've got more of a sweet tooth. But I finished the whole bottle and ended up buying a case because other folks REALLY enjoy it. :-)

Actually 3.4 stars. Color, this sparkling wine has a nice fresh color, very appealing for the price. On the nose, some apricots, nice floral aromas, decent quality cava. midpalate, very acidic, smooth, palate refreshing, some topical fruits coming through. Finish, nice acidity, considerably lingering in the mouth, still some tropical fruits coming through, very vibrant cava, balanced. Overall, this cava is decently made, not very wow!, for the price you're paying, this is a nice pottle that you'd like to invest in to expand your palate. Good, not bad effort. I am 87+ points on this effort. Happy drinking!

Really good and inexpensive. It tasted like California champagne to me. My wife said it tasted like Heineken beer to her. My wife likes Heineken and this is a good rating from her. I might get a case.

This mild and dry sparkling wine has a light citrus flavor and a dry finish, but it doesn’t leave you wanting water after each sip. It would be a great choice for “Wedding Champagne”. --- Sure, it isn’t quite the same as expensive stuff. But, an extra star because it still tastes good after it warms, and one more star for the $8.00 price tag.

As my husband is not a big wine drinker, he compromises with champagne. I used to spend a fortune on Veuve and Moet & Chandon. I walked into the corner liquor store one evening a few years back and the owner told me to try Cristalino. Now whenever we have small gatherings, we pick up a case and drink bubbly all evening! All our neighbors are hooked as well. It's a nice cava. For the price, you can't beat it.

Nothing beats Cristalino Brut Cava for cheap, refreshing, delicious and good for sharing with friends. Total purchased: 11
rating (4/30/2011):

I consider this the best value of any wine I have ever purchased. I have ordered this one three times already (impressive for myself since I have only repeat ordered 2 wines...I like to taste a variety of wines). It has a good balance of dryness and sweetness. The bubbles are long-lasting and strong. It does not taste like a value sparkling wine at all. It tastes like a much more expensive wine. The only thing I do not like now is the new label. Apparently, there must have been issues with it trying to look like Cristal or something because it says a couple times on the label that it is unrelated to Louis Roederer or Cristal. I miss the old gold label.

While not being a fan of white or sparkling wine, I tried this for New Years. It is a decent wine, not sweet like Asti. Definitely not a red. Would probably go well as a mimosa, but just not my taste.
rating (12/31/2010):

Very good quality sparkling wine at a great price of around 8 bucks. Always keep a few bottles around the house and office for a simple Mimosa (who wastes good champ on that?).

rating (9/29/2010):
Living in the Napa Valley we get used to the sparkling wines from our local soils. Spanish Cava to me is more flavorful and to some not pleasant at all. Opinions were wide ranging on this offering. I enjoyed it a lot. Others found the need to mix with fruit juices to truly enjoy. I say at this price you need to give it a serious try. Compare to Korbel Brut.. that should strike up an interesting conversation comparison.
rating (9/29/2010):
This was a pleasant Brut. It wasn't terribly dry and was refreshing and light in the mouth. It had a slight fruity bouquet. The clear, crisp finish made it very enjoyable. For a very inexpensive bubbly, this one exceeded my expectations.
rating (9/28/2010):
We're not big champagne drinkers, so we don't want to spend a lot to not know what we're enjoying - and this is ok, especially considering the price. Not as bubbly as some I've tried, but a nice dry taste.
rating (9/28/2010):
for the price, a wonderful sparking wine... we use it as are table aperitif on regular week night

Easy drinking champagne comparable to bubbly twice or three times the price! Great Find!
rating (9/27/2010):
I bought a couple of bottles of this on a whim, while shopping for the ingredients for this year's Thanksgiving feast, and stashed them away in my wine cooler to await the holiday. When the big day arrived I served this wine at table along with roasted turkey, brussels sprouts with bacon and apples, cranberry chutney and other Thanksgiving favourites instead of serving it as an aperitif. My guests and I truly thought this to be a delicious wine that held up to the variety of complex flavours found in such a big, traditional meal. I also served this at an informal Christmas evening at my home and my guests again expressed delight at raising a glass of such a good, yet affordable, wine. I will definitely buy more of this (possibly a case) since it has been such a hit.
rating (9/27/2010):
Our stand-by house sparkling. Crisp texture w/ light citrus flavor (less than Ch. St. Michelle). No aftertaste or unpleasant aromas.
rating (9/27/2010):
Decent wine -- it was a roadie (limo) purchase in NYC and did the trick!
rating (9/27/2010):
After reading the reviews I thought there was something special about this inexpensive Cava...I guess it all depends on what you're looking for in a Cava. If you want it to taste like Champagne, this is not for you. Tastes more like alcoholic apple cider.
rating (9/26/2010):
I thought I couldn't afford a nice, smoother-tasting sparkling wine, so I was very pleased with this choice! I recommend it highly.

We love Champagne, but can't pop (sorry for the pun) for $40 - 50 for every bottle. We love this Champagne for by the bonfire, taking to parties, out on the boat, etc.
rating (9/25/2010):
I was very surprised to find a champagne recommended so highly delivered so little. I served it at a New Year's Eve party and noone cared for it. Personally, I thought it had very little taste at all, very plain. I would definitely not buy this again. I should be surprised, considering the insanely low price but hoped for the best with the rating on this site. Better luck next New Year's!

For the price, this is the best sparkling wine that I have ever tried. Crisp with a clean palate.
rating (9/25/2010):
This is, without a doubt, one of the best sparkling wines around for the price. I love to serve it to my guest just before or after dinner and it is always a huge hit. My husband is a champagne aficionado and he even loves it. Our friend and family all comment on how wonderful the flavor is. You will want to keep several bottles on hand for when you just want to share a drink with friends who drop by or to give as a hostess gift. For the price, it can not be beat.

I purchase a case of this cava at least twice a year. It has great taste and all my guests enjoy it. It has a clean dry taste with just the right amount of bubbles. Even better is its price. I would recommend this cava and feel it is the equal of many champagnes that are priced higher.

It does have a mediocre taste, so I wouldn't recommend drinking it alone. On the other hand, if you enjoy champagne cocktails like the Mimosa and Barbotage, no one will notice your using $8 champage. Excellent value!

I've tried many Bruts before. Some of them cost three times as much as this Cristalino. I've got to say that, in my limited experience, this is one of the best, if not the best, bubbly I've had in a while. Definitely getting a few more of these.

For $8, this is a clean, fantastic drink. Is it the best around? Probably not, but for the value, this has become our house bubbly. No lasting puckery aftertaste makes it a winner

I was very disappointed. Nobody at our party liked this on its own. Was fine in a mimosa, but I would not buy this again.

Great bottle of cava. no off flavors or cheap perlage. fruity, dry, unique sparkling wine not from champagne.
A Customer - San Jose, CA
This is by far the best champagne for the price! It's better than most champagnes out there under $30! Trust me, I know my champagnes! I recommend this to all my friends and they are hooked! If you want a dry, crisp and clean tasting champagne...Cristalino is the way to go!!!
A Customer - warrenton, virginia
I read the reviews and ordered 4 bottles- I can drink some pretty cheap stuff! I poured most of it out- it had a very "chemical" taste to it-and a bad aftertaste-did I get the same wine others tasted?? I did not enjoy and definitely would never order again.
A Customer - Brooklyn
Certainly the best bang for your buck when it comes to sparkling wines. I have been drinking this for years and will continue to do so. It is light and crisp and dry. Perfect on it's own, in mimosas, champagne cocktails, whatever. You will not find a better value, even in the mid ranged bubblies. Go for it!
A Customer - Dallas, TX
This is well worth the price-a steal. Well-balanced dryness, and crisp like an apple. Much better than other sparklers I have tried in the same price range.
A Customer - San Antonio, Texas
OK, the posts made me try it. How could a bottle of champagne this cheap be any good. I figured I did not have much to lose. Last Saturday night My wife and I sampled our bottle of Cristalino and were floored. Really there is none of that cheap sweetness or lousy aftertaste that make other (value)champagnes that are palatable only for a quick toast and then have you searching for the next libation. This champagne easily holds its own with Moet White Star, albeit without the name recognition that goes along with that brand. This is a solid offering even at triple the price. We are going to order a case and serve it at our next party. Thanks everyone for the input and if you are thinking about, try it. You will not be disappointed.
A Customer - Kansas
I had this wine shipped home to California for my Christmas visit. I thought I hated Champagne but my family loves to have it on the holidays. After drinking this I realized I didn't hate Champagne but had just been drinking bad Champagne! This is wonderful by itself no need for orange juice to disguise the flavor of bad Champagne. Wish I could have it shipped to Kansas!
A Customer - Florida
I ordered a case of this for Christmas...gave some as gifts...saved some for home! It was fantastic...everyone loved it. I'm ordering another case now for our son's wedding...I know I should order more but the delivery guy may get the wrong idea!!! This is a must have!
A Customer - Bellingham, Washington
I was born and raised in CA; had the opportunity to have sampled most great wines before they were popular. I recently moved to Bellingham, WA and discovered Cristalino in a local grocery store...good price, and it is delicious. I am now buying by the case. Cheers.
A Customer - Florida
I must respectfully disagree with all of the favorable reviews of this cava. It has a promising nose, but it is very bitter taste and has absolutely no sugar at all--and I do not enjoy sweet wines. This was especially disappointing given the several favorable reviews.
A Customer - Mineapolis,MN
As special events director for a major NFP, I need to entertain large groups. This is always a hit, and is easy on the very limited budget. Even the labeling suggests an expensive estate producet. I'm always amazed (and sometimes amused) when wine enthusiasts hail this as the best they've ever drunk. Kudos!
A Customer - Massachusetts
We were looking for an inexpensive but tasty sparkling wine for thr holidays and Googled onto wine.com. We tried the Christalino NV Cava and, unfortunately, found to be just average and it's 91 rating about 10 points too high.

We bought several cases of this sparking wine for our wedding. Everyone loved it. Crisp and light. Perfect with wedding cake. Makes a great wedding favor as well. We have been to 2 weddings since ours and all have served this sparking wine as its champagne. Can't beat it for the price even if you buy bottles twice as expensive.

This is a great everyday sparkler. I buy it by the case, and is ideal for opening when folks drop by, or you've had a bad day and need a little pick me up! A great value, and totally suitable for special ocassions and hostess gifts. We served this at our wedding!

I normally drink Korbel Brut and I decided to give this a try. It is an excellent champagne. I order it by the case and it is very reasonable to drink more than a few bottles per week. It is very light.
A Customer - Houston
I bought a case of Cristalino last year around the holidays and it was good to the last drop with no discernible variance between bottles. I buy it often as a hostess gift and serve it straight to picky friends. Yet, its not so expensive that you feel badly when you use it to make a mimosa. This is such a nice wine that the airlines ought to invest in it; it's a first class bubbly with a coach price.
A Customer - Miami
I am a champagne connoiseur (been to the French vineyards, sampled the best) and am always keen to try non-regionals. About 5 years ago we tried Cristalino for use with "Champagne cocktails" (oxymoron). It has been a staple at our annual holiday brunch, particularly for those who have a penchant for adding fruit juices etc. to their sparklers. Raise a flute---cheers!!!
A Customer - Dallas, Texas
This is an absolutely wonderful bottle of bubbly! We have taken it to many parties and won over many wine snobs to our little $9 bottle of fine wine. We just served it at a company-sponsored event with great reviews. The other night at home we had a big platter of fancy chicken nachos and a bottle of Cristalino. Very "North Dallas" of us, but it's so wonderful and goes with everything.
A Customer - Reston, VA
I had to write a little comment that I completely agree with all of the other reviews. This is a great sparkling wine to keep around just to have and is also good enough to serve during events. Good stuff!!!!! I switch between this one and Domaine Ste. Michelle...both Extra Dry.
A Customer - Richmond, VA
Like everyone else says! You cannot beat this champagne even if you are spending $20+ per bottle. Every wine shop manager recommends it - especially for wedding receptions. It is a fantastic bargain. With all these reviews, I am sure it will no longer be cheap in the near future!

Tried one case for a small wedding shower I hosted. Ended up purchasing 3 more for my summer events...A great sparking wine--light, crisp, dry and smooth---very delicious. A new favorite!

WOW- as a continuing fan of white star, PJ, and Veuve,I was impressed by this fantastic spanish cava! In fact, we ordered 2 cases for our wedding and it was an absolute hit- I overheard several guests musing as to the vintage of our bubbly and high praise was given all around. Also, the remaining bottles made for great mimosas the next morning at brunch. Cristalino is a hidden gem- perfect combination of low price and wonderful taste!

Tried one bottle after reading the review. We are now hooked! Served it at our wedding and now buy it by the case. A wonderfully crisp clean cava and a terrific value.

After so many great reviews I bought a couple for Xmas gifts. It is a great gift for this great price.

just had a bottle and I was blown away by the quality. Doesn't have the citrus and pear thing goin on like a vueve and can have a bitter after taste if it's out for too long. it's perfect w/sushi.

i have to concurwith everyone, this is an amazing bottle of bubbly here. i have bought a few bottles and everyone i have shared it with had two questions? what is that? and where can i get that? wine.com of course! it is a great wine with a subtle finish, lasting flavors and my favorite thing about it, NO HANGOVERS. a prefect party or event bubbly at a FANTASTIC price.

I love red and white wines, but sparkling wines are my passion. This beautiful Spanish cava has quickly become a favorite of mine. It is light, crisp, and dry, while delivering a nice hint of fruit. I am not a fan of the vastly popular Spanish cava found at most grocery stores, but this cava is outstanding and deserves to be drank regularly.

This is by far one of the best sparkling wines on the market for the price. Very light and crisp with a hint of fruit. Bought a case for a party and what a hit it was. Just fantastic.

We really loved this one as well!!! I'm certainly not a 'pro' when it comes to wines, but I would still recommend this to everyone - our guests commented on it also, how good they thought it was!

I ordered a case of this to serve at my wedding reception, and it was a hit. It's dry (I loathe soapy sweet bubbly) and smooth, easy to drink with a pleasing aroma of green apple. We made mimosas for breakfast on our honeymoon using what was left of the case, and they were delicious. It beats some of the mid-priced bubblies I drank in California and I can't recommend it enough. I plan on buying another case to keep around the house, just to drink with dinner.

Wonderful. It's surprisingly smooth for a champagne with none of the bite I typically expect with a brut. However, in that respect it has a very light flavor - "clean".

We tried this champagne on the Valentine's day before our March wedding. We fell in love with it and shared it with our guests at our wedding. The quality is fantastic! I introduce it to everyone. We will be celebrating our holidays with it, as well. Highly recommended!

As a non-drinker, I listen very carefully for feedback whenever I take a gift of wine. Cristalino Brut is a big success whenever it is opened. I stress what it is: an every-event surprise to begin or end an evening with friends. I explain that it is not a bubbly to save for "once-a-year" celebration. Friends are wildy enthused by combination of great price/quality, which is the key. Whenever I give other "bargain" bubblies, or take different brands/types for coparison tastings, Christalino Brut is uniform winner. Anyone can spent $30-40 and get a great bubbly, but Christalino Brut lets you spent less than $10 and do the same thing. Best intersection of price and quality I have found.

If you like your sparkling a bit dry and sharp - this is it. Perfect for mimosas because of it's perfect bitterness.

By far the best tasting value sparkling wine I've had-- EVER! We've already bought 12 cases in the last year since we have discovered it!! It is perfect for parties, or for summer picnics. You MUST try it-- I promise you won't be disappointed!

For $8.99... this is excellent. I've had several bottles of '96 Louis Roederer Cristal, Dom Perignon, Veuve Clicquot, Piper Hiedsick, Perrier Jouet, and I think that Cristalino is comparable to a lot of $40-$60 bottles of champagne. I bought 3 bottles of Cristalino and I have yet to try the Cristalino Rose that I bought, but it is an excellent value and I highly recommend it.

Have always loved Prosecco and found this on wine.com and bought some for self and a friend. Really liked it. Especially good with bruschetta, maybe the toast flavor. Very clear. Ordered a case. Right price and right flavor. If you like Prosecco you will like this.

My wife and I BOTH think this compares favorably to bruts in the 20-40 dollar range. One bottle I had seemed to rival Tattinger! (really!) I wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviewers that this is an outstanding value. One caveat is that I am NOT a wine expert and would probably qualify as a "clod" to any competent wine taster. Nevertheless, we've had many good sparkling wines and "champagnes" and as far as I can tell this compares favorably to the moderately high end ones.
A Customer - New York
I think this could be the best value sparkling wine around. It's crisp, and fresh. And for $12, it's as good as any value sparkling wine I have drank. This is sort of my 'every week' champagne. It's also good to buy this for parties, it's won't break your account.
A Customer - San José
This is probably the best value in a Cava that I've tasted. The wine is, in short, excellent; it's miles better than other sparkling wines in this price range. In fact, I'd say it's almost as good as, say, a Domaine Chandon brut.
