winemaker's notes:

Color: Deep crimson with purple hues.

Bouquet: Rich fragrant blackberry and plum with a hint of spice balanced by integrated coffee/vanilla and toasty cedar oak notes.

Palate: Intense dark berry fruit flavours, with layers olive and spice. The 2005 Jacob's Creek Reserve Shiraz is full bodied with velvety tannins which provide the perfect backbone for expression of concentrated, spicy Shiraz flavours.

The generous, approachable fruit flavors ensure this wine can be enjoyed now; however the balance and structure of this wine will, if carefully cellared, evolve gracefully for the next 10 years.

"The Reserve wines from Jacob's Creek continue to offer excellent value, and with 90,000 cases imported, this should be easy to find. No, its' not the most intense and concentrated Shiraz, but this medium-bodied wien offers silky tannins, plenty of blackberry and blueberry fruit touched with dried spices and a supple finish. Drink now." 89 Points,
Wine Enthusiast

  Maybe we'd purchase this again - 2/14/2009
I would not buy this wine again
After a proper breathing interval (30 minutes or so), the first glass had deep rich fruit with blueberry notes and light aged oak. The second glass seemed heavy and strongly alcoholic. Perhaps we needed the second half of the bottle to breathe even longer. Was a one-glass wine for us. (2, since there are two of us)

I would buy this wine again
This wine was very good from 1 hour after opening with good flavors of berries and clear but mellow tannins and a soft finish. I will by more and wait a year or two to enjoy again and see how it develops. A Costco buy at $8.99 in KC, MO

I would buy this wine again
The 2005 reserve shiraz is excellent. Full bodied with a smooth finish I will probably get more.

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.

Green Wines
Wines that use sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices in the vineyard and/or winemaking process. We rely on a number of U.S. and International certifications to qualify wines "green."
