The 2009 Coonawarra Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep crimson red with purple hues. Fresh blackcurrant and dark berry fruit aromas are apparent on the nose exuding typical Coonawarra characteristics. Hints of black olive and licorice are balanced with nuances of cedar and vanilla from fine grain French oak. The palate exudes generous ripe cassis flavours with tobacco leaf, supported by subtle integration of oak leading to a rich, smooth finish.
An ideal accompaniment to osso bucco, beef rib roast or mature cheeses.

Located on the Limestone Coast of South Australia, Coonawarra is quite flat, except for the vineyards, which are slightly elevated. That, along with the proximity to the ocean and frequent cloud cover, Coonawarra never gets too hot. There is a small strip of soil, about nine miles long and two miles wide, called Terra Rossa, or red earth. It is the coveted place to plant Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvignon in this small region.

Cabernet grown in the Terra Rossa shows a sense of place, and the wines are in high demand.
