Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Lightly floral on the nose, the 2009 Villa Wolf Gewürztraminer is delicate, clean and pure on the palate, with a hint of spiciness. The mouth feel is silky and juicy, and the finish is one of gentle persistence.

Because it is lighter and more elegant than many other Gewurztraminers from around the world, it is very refreshing to drink on its own and makes a perfect accompaniment to spicy Asian cuisine.

Critical Acclaim

"Pale gold in color, with a fairly pronounced nose of orange citrus rind, dried herbs, pear drops and lime sherbet. Medium sweet and fruity, not terribly complex but nicely juicy and well balanced with an attractive spicy kick on the finish. Youthful, refreshing and easy-drinking."
