winemaker's notes:

Number 42 on the Wine.com 100 of 2007!

97% Shiraz, 3% Viognier

The screwcap closure is used to ensure freshness and preserve the characters of the wine and eliminate the possibility of cork

Aromas of violets, licorice, aniseed and white pepper. The palate is rambunctious and funky with blueberry jam flavors. It is soft, chewy and lingers in the mouth. Enjoy this wine with game meats, lamb & pork chop and grilled or barbequed steaks.

Outstanding! At first sip, I hated it. The description above that says "funky" is dead on. After a couple of glasses, I still hated it, but got more intrigued. I had just about given up when I ordered a peperoni pizza and it was an unbelievable match. Now I like it.
A Customer
Shiraz comprises 90% of my wine rack. I worship shiraz as Miles did pinot noir. I sample any label and vintner I can as often as I can. Price is no object. I was captivated by Innocent Bystander's label, not to mention its price. I ordered one bottle as a test. Had it with a pizza. It complimented beautifully. I was very impressed with this shiraz. I had a second bottle with a t-bone & baked tatee. Damn near transcendant. I ordered a bottle for an expert-shiraz-loving friend of mine - he claimed it was one of the best he has tasted ever, regardless of price (I told him it was 90-93 rated after the fact). This was from a devout cork-only wine drinker. Australian screw cap vintners are pioneers of the market and they are trustworthy and have never let me down. Innocent Bystander is now a staple in my wine rack. I wholeheartedly and adamantly recommend this incredible delicious wine for whatever your occasion. Order a bottle today and after your first glass, it will become a staple in your rack as it is in mine. You will not be disappointed!

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
Green wine
Green Wines
Wines that use sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices in the vineyard and/or winemaking process. We rely on a number of U.S. and International certifications to qualify wines "green."

Boutique Wines
These wines are made in limited quantities and are typically produced from single vineyard sources or made by small, artisanal wineries. While the winery may produce larger quantities, we limit wines with this designation to a 1,000 case production.
