This was a tough one. I orginally bought this wine because I love the Alsace region and wanted to try a regional blend. The reason why I gave it a 3 star rating is because it still needs another year of aging and therefore was a bit young. I let the bottle decanter for 15-20 minutes and it balanced out very nicely. It has a lovely golden tint to it and smells of pears and apple cider. On the palette it is relatively sweet and has a slight acidic touch on the back. The taste is also very peary and of white grape juice. This wine is a blend Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Muscat and Sylvaner grapes. Hence the name "Gentil" which is a a local word used to describe a blend of the local noble grapes. If you enjoy a sweet, yet tangy wine then this bottle is for you.
