winemaker's notes:
This wine revives an ancient Alsace tradition that wines assembled from noble grape varieties were called "Gentil". Gentil "Hugel" allies the suave, spicy flavor of Gewurztraminer, the body of Pinot Gris, the finesse of Riesling, the grapiness of Muscat and the refreshing character of Sylvaner.
The 2005 has a pure, fresh bouquet, particularly fruit-driven and floral, engaging and expressive, flattering and affectionate. On the palate it is dry, with a lively, youthful freshness that makes it agreeably refreshing, and an appealingly scented finish. It stimulates the taste buds and makes the perfect wine to enjoy with friends on every simple, unceremonious occasion.
Drink it chilled with all saltwater and freshwater fish, shellfish, starters and hors d'oeuvres.

A Customer - Seattle
This is a lovely wine and an exceptional bargain. It has a citrusy floral bouquet that fills the nostrils fast. On the tongue it starts almost lemon tart but quickly rounds out and fills the mouth with a complex mix of deeper flavors. There are apple and peach notes, but something more savory as well like fresh baked bread. It finishes long and slow, leaving a pleasant slightlty sweet tartness behind. I've put back a couple of cases for the summer. It will be perfect with grilled fish and fowl.
