ratings pedigree (past vintages):
winemaker's notes:

Washington State's long growing season of warm days and cool nights provides ideal conditions for producing Syrah. Washington Syrahs exhibit dark, juicy fruit character, brilliant color, a complex varietal herbaceousness, and a relatively low tannin level. The Genesis Syrah is sourced from carefully selected vineyards to emphasize luscious fruit, elegant balance, and complexity. The 2005 vintage opens with aromas of cherry, wild berry, and cinnamon, with a touch of mango, nectarine, and tobacco. On the palate are avors of black cherry, blueberry, and warm Chai spices, with a hint of smoke. The wine is full and rich in the mouth with a long, silkyfinish.

With such a complex flavor profile, this Syrah pairs well with a wide variety of foods: from chicken chili to beef stew, barbecued ribs and hamburgers to roast beef, as well as more sophisticated dishes featuring grilled or roasted filet mignon, venison, lamb or duck.

rating (9/28/2010):
It's not like I think this is the finest wine around, but I give it 5 stars for price as compared to quality. This deep red is ripe and lucious. It reminds me of all the qualities those $9 rosemount Shiraz blend bottles, but provides much better quality...kind of like everything that $9 bottle wishes it was. This is a jammy wine with light oak and a familiar spice (pepper?) on the finish.
