Winemaker's Notes

Syrah is perhaps the most exciting new grape variety for the Pacific Northwest, and Hogues second vintage, 1996, signals a bright future for this Rhone variety. The Genesis 1996 Syrah has excellent weight and balance, with intense fruit flavors and aromas of chocolate, black cherry, smoke, pepper and herbs. Rich, smooth and with good length, this wine is suited for grilled and barbecued meat, meat stews and casseroles, and dishes that compliment its spiciness, including Thai and Szechuan Chinese food.
