The 2003 Genesis Cabernet Sauvignon is what fine wines are all about. This is a spicy wine at its core with anise, clove and coffee bean accenting its bright fresh cherry and raspberry fruit flavors. It is a rich, full-bodied, expressive wine that still shows some finesse with fine, almost powdery tannins and well-integrated oak. Tobacco and black pepper linger on the finish. Pair this wine with grilled tri-tip steak, aged cheeses or dark chocolate.
Hogue Genesis wines represent the culmination of a winemaking process that selects classic varietal wine grapes from some of the most distinctive vineyard sites in Eastern Washington state. In twenty years of winemaking in Washington the Hogue Cellars winemaking team has identified which vineyards and microclimates have the best potential to produce classic varietal wines.
*Note: Due to the rich, extracted nature of this wine, it may contain some naturally occuring wine sediment. Consisting of wine solids, it is harmless and does not affect the quality of the wine. A day before the wine is to be served, stand the bottle upright, allowing the sediment to settle to the bottom. If desired, gently pour the wine into a clean decanter, leaving the sediment in the bottle.

With all the uncertainty with sampling wine, here you have a strong, consistant Cabernet. Yes, the rating may be slightly to the high end but a very enjoyable wine for the price. Don't pass this one up. Enjoy now or Really enjoy later!

Good value, Let it breathe for full enjoyment. I definately would recommend it for the price but I think a 94 rating is a little high. I'd give it a 90.

Quickly becoming a house standard. I have "gifted" this to several of my wine friends to try. No one has been disappointed. Agree, 94 might be a bit rich but it is very good wine for the price.

This was enjoyed at the $16 price point. Medium Body and good character/spice. 94 is a little liberal. I think the 90 rating is more appropriate. Disappointed in the sediment at the bottom, it's only a 2003.

I agree with twagener that a 94 rating might be a little high for a wine this young and brash. But having said that, it is an amazing mouthful for the price. It seems like every time I serve it to guests, someone wants to write down the particulars so they can go buy their own. It is very fruit forward and could probably benefit from a few years in the bottle. I'm saving back a couple to drink in 2010. But there is balance, a really round mouth feel with touches of cassis and something aromatic like rosemary. Anyway, it's a complicated taste for the bucks. You won't be sorry.
