Hartwell Cabernet Sauvignon 1992
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
Wine Style Guide
Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.
Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.
Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
"Ripe, supple, harmonious and well-balanced, with graceful currant, spice, plum and black cherry fruit that's maturing nicely, finishing with well-integrated tannins.--'92 California Cabernet retrospective."
"There are only micro-quantities produced of this wine from a one acre hillside vineyard in Napa. The 1992 exhibits an impressive dark ruby/purple color, as well as an attractive, pure, cassis-scented nose with earth and toasty new oak notes. Although closed, the wine is full-bodied, aggressively tannic, and astringent. If the tannin melts away, this Cabernet may merit a higher score. For now, it is a ruggedly constituted, hefty wine that does not reveal as much harmony as previous efforts."
