#18 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2010
Our 2006 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an orchestral melange of hand-selected fruit from our Hardester, Napa River Ranch, Bergfeld and
Sacrashe vineyards. Each distinctive terroir interweaves complementary components which culminate in a preeminent Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a gestalt of balanced, rich, concentrated character.
The inviting deep ruby color and rich aromatics of cassis, roasted espresso bean and dark ripe plum follow through with flavors of blackberry, crème cassis and hints of graphite that linger relentlessly. Rewarding now, this wine will continue to impress for 5-10 years.
"A rich, dense, concentrated style, this is full-bodied, focused and
pure, with hints of mocha and black licorice rounding out the core
currant, plum and black cherry flavors. Focused and persistent,
with a long finish. Drink now through 2017."
Smooth & Supple
Was Given as a Christmas Gift Mother in Law liked it so much she went out and bout a few more to Cellar.
Has wonderful nose, and drinks even better. Highly rated and you will be able to tell.
What a fabulous wine! On my fourth bottle, offered two to friends - we agree. All the nose one could wish for; pleny of upfront fruit; and the finish lingers. Yes, its $40, but it's as good as it gets. The balance is superb. Go ahead and splurge - you won't regret it!
Quite possibly the best value out there in a Napa Cab. 2006 Kathryn Hall was a blockbuster, and this 2006 Hall Cab follows suit, at a lower price. You sould buy this wine.
Fruit-forward but not overbearing. Mouth-filling taste, chewy, smooooth finish!
Read the write-up in WS and had to give this a try. Although an 06, drinks like it's older/been laying down for a while. Very Nice!
This does not compare to the Kathryn Hall reserve. It takes a long time to open up and does not have the richness....plus it is a little tart at the back of the tongue
This wine shows promise, but in my humble opinion, is not yet ready.
WS 94 points?? Not in my opinion - this either needs time -(now thru 2017) or does not live up to the rating. It had a rough edge even for a full bodied wine. I'll let the other bottle sit for SOME time and we'll see what that does.
