Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2000
Rhone Red Blends
from Cotes du Rhone, Rhone, France
winemaker's notes:
What a delicious value! A blend of 50% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, and 25% Syrah from 35 year old vines, aged for a year in oak casks. A deep purple color in the glass, with warm berry, plum and spice aromas. Full-bodied and elegant, with mellow tannins, warmth and aromatic intensity. You can age this wine successfully for up to 8 years. Delicoius with meat, game, spicy salami, and mature cheeses.
"Tasting through the 2000 Cotes du Rhone's component parts revealed that it may be even better than the 1998. The Syrah component exhibits full body along with creme de cassis-like flavors. The Grenache component offers sweet kirsch liqueur notes. This should be a delicious, velvety-textured, full-flavored, knock-out value to enjoy during its first 2-4 years of life."
