Goldeneye Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2004
Pinot Noir
from North Coast, California
winemaker's notes:
This full-bodied wine has lofty weight yet the wine is supple, elegant and well-balanced. The aroma is inviting with notes of leaf tobacco, mushroom, forest floor, leather, and cinnamon. The flavors are dominated by blueberry, plum, blackberry, and a medley of spices, including clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
"Leading with deep and nicely formed aromas of sweet cherries and integral oak spice, this big, mouthfilling wine steers to ripeness without forgetting about fruit. Its plushness is balanced by just the right measure of supportive acidity, and it avoids even the least bit of heaviness while being fat and full on the palate. While it can develop further with a few years of age, it is already accessible and will make lovely drinking with likes of a mustard-encrusted rack of lamb."
