Gloria Ferrer Carneros Pinot Noir 2000
from Carneros, California
The grapes for the 2000 Pinot Noir were comprised of ten clonal selections chosen from the 29 Pinot Noir clones planted in our 335-acre Carneros vineyard. Each year, as we gain a better understanding of each of these clones and their relationship to the soils and climate of Carneros, our Pinot Noir picks up more complexity and consistency from year to year. The shallow soils in tandem with the region's cool, wind-swept climate consistently produce low yields with graceful fruit characteristics.
The bouquet is filled with sweet red cherry, orange peel and toffee, with earthy notes adding to the complex aromatic profile. The palate texture is sleek and filled with raspberry, red currant and mocha flavors. A roasted oak note carries the wine through an extended finish.
Delicious with grilled salmon, rack of lamb, duck breast with dried cherries, wild mushroom ragout and slowroasted ribs.

My boyfriend & I shared a bottle of Gloria Ferrer over a nice diner. It paired well with beef tenderloin and ribeye done tuscan style. It is not very deep, but is very smooth. I recomend it.

I went to the Champagne Caves of the Gloria Ferrer estate in Sonoma, CA a few months ago, and tasted a reserve Pinot Noir that was simply magnificent. This Pinot does not have the complexity, but is a good alternative to the pricier Reserve. Enjoy. Gloria Estates make an excellent Pinot
