Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Winemaker's Notes

"The nose starts with a delicate aroma of minerals, black currant and spice, and on the palate, layers of anise, cracked pepper and clove add a soulful touch. Sturdy tannins and a vibrant overall fruit profile give the wine a lift, but the package is balanced and smooth."

We had been spoiled recently by a bottle of Quintessa and are having trouble getting back in to the lesser rated wines in my chiller. This wine, however, helped considerably and I ordered a case to add to my cellar.

I found a little smoke on the back of this wine, but it was one of the first opened, and the last standing after a long dinner with maybe 12 people. Not a great South African, but ok.
