winemaker's notes:

This wine opens with alluring ripe cherry, raspberry and strawberry aromas and has plush, succulent dark berry flavors, complimented by lavish, spicy oak elements. It is deeply colored with layered complexity and a silky, sensual, long finish.

The 2005 Russian River Selection Pinot Noir shows wonderful balanced acidity ensuring excellent compatibility with a wide range of foods, including salmon, lamb and pork dishes.

critical acclaim:

"Garden aromas ranging from fresh strawberry to basil, rhubarb and a whiff of tomato leaf. Mixed fruit flavors accompany smoky oak, cedar and mineral notes. Lively, fresh close with a nice balance between tannins, crisp acids and minerals."

The Wine News

"This multivineyard blend isn’t cheap, but it’s almost as good as Farrell’s more expensive single-vineyard Pinots, which makes it kind of a value. Like them, it’s a dry, crisply acidic wine, and slightly austere. It shows tobacco-infused cherry pie filling, pomegranate, rhubarb and cola flavors. "

rating (11/2/2012):
This is not the first time we have enjoyed this wine from Gary Farrell. It continues to be as good as it was when Gary was still there making wine. It is the true Russian River Pinot, with all of the wonderful fruit that pinots can give. I have been drinking this selection for a few years and it NEVER disappoints.

rating (9/24/2010):
This pinot is atypical in the amount of berry flavor. It finishes with a slightly oak flavor, and is not at all wimpy. A very nice wine that would go very well with fish or lamb.
