Filled with fragrant notes of rich black berry and traces of cocoa powder, the 2009 Frog's Leap Merlot exhibits a cascading flavor profile of ripened red berries and cherry accentuated by delicate notes of mocha, herbs and spice.
"John Williams's crusade for dry farming in Napa makes sunse out of Merlot, a grape that responds to irrigation by racing to higher alcohol levels with each successive heat spike. This has some warmth, adding a gentle glow from within the fruit, the flavors clean and fragrant, the tannins lovely, dark in tone. A int of pyrazines adds buoyancy to the finish. For grilled quail."
Wine & Spirits
Had a glass of Frog's Leap Merlot at my birthday dinner on Kauai 8/23/11 and really enjoyed it. There are others I have liked better, I think they were smoother for me personally, but I was not disappointed. If this was the only Merlot available to me at a fine restaurant, I would buy it again.
