Sangiovese
from Tuscany, Italy
winemaker's notes:
Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2005!
"...Full-bodied, with layers of fruit and silky tannins. Long finish. Serious wine. Serious value. Best after 2005."
-Wine Spectator
The color is a ruby red of good intensity with darker purple reflections. The bouquet possesses fragrances of blueberries, blackberries and cherries which are enhanced by hints of vanilla spices.
On the palate, this wine shows an enveloping yet not oppressive body while its acidic component is refreshing and at the same time enhances its great structure. The tannins are well integrated while the finish is long and persistent.
Sangiovese 90%, with complementary red varieties according to appellation's regulations (Malvasia nera, Colorino, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon).

One of the best Chianti Riserva's that I have ever had. Nice body and complex. Definitely a bargain.

I bought a bottle of this while visiting Florence, after a wine merchant suggested it. It is very delicious. If you like a more full bodied Italian wine compared to the Chianti Classico, this is a very good choice.
