    Winemaker Notes

    Deep ripe fruit red color with good clarity. Full ripe fruit aromas abound and are very forthcoming. A rather plushy nose displays aromas of red fruit, mulberry, a touch of licorice and a delightful hint of violet. The wine is quite heady but I don't think over the edge. Oak is also certainly a part of the richness in the nose yet is complexed so nicely with the powerful fruit that it is more a passive than active component. The nose evolves over hours of exposure and seems to become more and more complex as it opens.

    Flavors, like the aromas, are big and bold. This is a mouthful of a wine. A long sweetness is particularly charming. The wine is surprisingly supple for its age.

    Blend: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 5% Petite Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc

    Founded in 1983 and located at the base of Howell Mountain, overlooking the town of St. Helena, Forman Vineyard produces 2000 cases each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. All grapes are grown on the three estate vineyards, two on the mountain above and one on the valley floor in the Rutherford Bench appellation.
