Flynn Pinot Gris 1997

This is our second bottling of Pinot Gris from our own vineyards (grown, produced and bottled by Flynn Vineyards). Vines are now five years old, and demonstrating that time is indeed an ally in the wine business.

The 1997 vintage year was generally friendly, ending a bit sooner than we would have hoped for, although the grapes were clean and mature, and were picked before rain became a problem. The resulting wine is well balanced, showing good varietal character. Orange peel and honey come to mind. The mouth feel is a little on the soft side, with acid preventing flabbiness. Finish is long and pleasant. Salmon and Pinot Gris are truly great companions.
