The inky dark purple color of our 1998 Camp Meeting Ridge Pinot noir indicates a cool, long hang-time year on "The Ridge". The aroma is of pure fruit concentrate with ripe black and red berries and bing cherry, with grace notes of sandalwood and East India spice. On the palate, the cool-climate expression of floral, violet and rose petal notes is prevalent, along with flavors of red and black cherry and a late finish of cola nut and beautifully resolving tannins. As we work with the fruit during each vintage, we find new ways of letting the power of our steep hillside and ridge-top fruit speak through elegance. This fine example of what Coastal Pinot noir can be has the grace to drink soon after release and the structure to last well into the next decade.
