Flowers Andreen-Gale Cuvee Pinot Noir 2004
Pinot Noir
from Sonoma County, California
winemaker's notes:
Deep, ruby color. Fruit aromas of Queen Anne cherry, blackberry and red plum are followed by hints of leather, sarsaparilla root and vanillin tones from barrel aging. This Andreen-Gale expresses the richness and balance of coastal fruit from our estate vineyards. Long supple tannins on the palate are spreading and delicious. Enjoy over the next 3 years.

This wine is why Flowers continues keeps a firm hold on the American Pinot Noir Market, and deservedly so. I had the pleasure of having a bottle of the 2004 Andreen-Gale at the S&W Steakhouse at the Wynn in Las Vegas 2 weeks ago. And I'm still thinking about it! Without going into all the wine jargon, subtleties, nuances and such, this wine simply satisfies in a way a well built Pinot should. It's BURSTING with florals, and cherry juice, so much so my mouth started to salivate. The color is very deep and garnet like; a color more a kin to a Napa Cab, and not watery like so many other so called "Great Pinot Noirs". It opened up considerably in the next 5 minutes with a few swirls in the glass, and revealed its tendancy to stick close to the bowl, and show off its long long legs. In short, this wine is succulant without being too sweet, full bodied enough to throw it in the mix with a New York pepper-steak, and still delicate enough to serve with a raspberry chocolate bombe. GET IT!
