Flora Springs Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2001
Cabernet Sauvignon
from Napa Valley, California
winemaker's notes:
Aged for almost two years in French, American and Eastern European oak, this wine exhibits all the classic characteristics of a Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley - full, forward, mouthfilling black cherry fruit with cassis and cocoa. The finish is smooth and lingering - a nicely balanced wine with oak undertones.
The grapes for our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon come primarily from our Komes Ranch vineyards in Rutherford and our vineyards in Oakville. Napa Valley is one of the best places in the world to grow Cabernet and these vines flourish in the soils and climate in these two prime appellations.

Talk about a wonderful surprise. As soon as the bottle was opened the aroma of fruit was very powerful. The wine is as sweet as any cabernet I have ever had, and I suspect it will get even better with a few years in the bottle. This is a real gem of a wine. Just ordered a case from my retailer. A real bargain at $30.

Fantastic Cabernet, one if the best I have tried in '01. Not one of those that is going to blow you away with up-front tannins and concentration, but very good sublety and complexity. I think this is one of the untalked about gems of the vintage. Very good now, but in a couple years it will be a blockbuster.

Very impressed by the nose and taste while dining at a fine steakhouse on vacation in San Francisco
