Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine is an intense cherry color with a purple rim. Aromas include ripe red fruit with floral tones and a hint of minerality. The palate is lively, clean and fleshy with good fruitiness. It is juicy and balanced with pleasant persistance.

Pair with salads, vegetable stew, roast beef, pork, chicken and grilled beef. It also pairs nicely with white fish, rice and Italian pastas.

Critical Acclaim

"Bright ruby. High-pitched aromas of red berries and spices, with a subtle note of violet. Spicy and energetic on the palate, offering red berry and cracked pepper flavors that gain weight and sweetness with air. Clean and nervy on the finish, which shows good clarity and a hint of bitter cherry. This is an excellent value."

"Bodegas Luzon’s unoaked 2010 Luzon Verde was produced with organically grown grapes from 100% Monastrell. It is a briery, herbaceous wine with ample blue fruit, good volume, and plenty of flavor. Drink it over the next 3 years. "
