I've just had a glass of this Primotivo with a bowl of Annie's Tuscan bean soup and mixed olives. Quite a nice little treat on this snowy day! Primotivo is a good wine for anyone who is just beginning to like red wines: tannins not too abrupt, and it leaves a warm, almost senuous feel to the mouth. The bouquet became apparent to me when I dropped my first bottle yesterday while bringing in the groceries. As the lovely dark red puddle spread across my garage floor, I detected a subtle, enticing fruit fragrance, not a "vinegary" smell at all. It was enough to send me back to buy a second bottle the next day--the one I corked today. It's more mellow than similarly priced Chiantis; a nice choice for our daughter's wedding, I think.
