Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
With The Big Easy, Fess Parker wanted to pay homage to one of their favorit cities, a culinary mecca and great supporters of wines, New Orleans. Notes of black pepper, blueberry, blackberry, mocha, smoked meat and leather are found on the nose along with flavors of black cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate, vanilla, smoked meat and barbeque spice on the palate. Enjoy this meaty well structured blend to a long lengthy finish with its dense chocolaty tannins.
"A terrific wine, packed with rich blackberry, blueberry, cassis, tar, dark chocolate, smoked meat and black pepper aromas and flavors. The blend is 78% Syrah, while the remainder of Petite Sirah brings that variety's weight, color and tannins. The grapes come from some of the best vineyards in the county."
