Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Casa Ferreirinha Esteva 2009 has a strong ruby hue and a finely intense and harmonious bouquet, with a prevalence of red fruits and undertones such as oak and rockrose. In the mouth it starts off softly and develops to show a fine structure with well-integrated tannins, with red fruits much in evidence. Acidity is very well wrapped and it has an elegant and harmonious finish.

Esteva is a very versatile wine, ideal with all types of poultry, sundry meats, smoked pork, cheese, some fish such as cod and a variety of pastas and rich salads. Produced to be drunk young, Esteva is ready for drinking and does not require decanting, except if it is kept for some years.
