"Bodegas Faustino can be the source of very good to outstanding traditionally styled Rioja and the winery is said to have deep stocks of older vintages. The 1995 Faustino de Autor Reserva Especial, from an excellent Rioja vintage, is dark ruby with a brick-colored rim. The aromatics also reveal some advancing age with the smell of forest floor and mushroom playing a significant role. Other notes include cedar, tobacco, and red currants. The wine is medium-bodied and elegant with a solid core of fruit and good length. Drink this attractive old-style Rioja over the next 2-3 years.
