Wine Style Guide
Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.
Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.
Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
Alcohol By Volume: 14.0%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
The 2011 Rosso di Montepulciano displays vivid ruby red color in the glass and intense aromas of wild black cherry, violet and a slight vanilla undertone. Well-balanced and elegant tannins which integrate into the red fruit flavors. A younger Vino Nobile with the potential to age.
Pairs well with appetizers and first course dishes with meat sauces, stuffed pasta or casserole dishes and grilled red meats.
"Dark cherries, plums, graphite, tobacco and smoke inform the estate's 2011 Rosso di Montepulciano. This is an especially dark, brooding Rosso with tons of varietal character and plenty of stylishness. A drop-dead gorgeous wine, the 2011 will give readers a great look at the personality of the vintage. This is without question a delicious wine and a fabulous value."
Vinous / Antonio Galloni
"Delicious soft tannins and juicy berry and chocolate fruit character. Full and round. Well-made Rosso di Montepulciano. Better than many Vino Nobles. Drink now."
Earth & Spicy
I have to agree with "mobdude". This is a very average wine. Which is fine, given the price point, but the ratings are off by a substantial amount. This isn't bad - it just isn't anything special or noteworthy at all.
Earth & Spicy
Lasagne > Meat
Overrated by both experts in my opinion. Pedestrian, Sangiovese made in a very "Italian" style. Would not buy again.

Fattoria del Cerro is not only Montepulciano's largest private estate, it is also the one with the finest and most complete line of wines, fruit of years of work on the part of its directors, first Guido Guardigli and now Guido Sodano, and most of all to the inspired winemaking of Lorenzo Landi, who first revealed his formidable talent with their wines.

First, in the south, the sparkling wine Franciacorta - this sparkling wine is made in the methode champagnoise and the better wineries produce...

There are a multitude of grape varieties throughout the world, however, in a Darwinian sense, survival of the fittest only brings us wines made from grapes that can adapt to changing climates and winemaking techniques. Notable Facts Our other red wines primarily consists of...
