The weather in 2008 was a bit challenging for Alexander Valley growers. We had several frosting events. Spring was dry and many farmers in Sonoma and Napa County ran out of water. On a positive note, the dry soils caused the Merlot and Cabernet Franc berries to be smaller reaching impressive concentration. Summer temperatures were glorious for developing flavor especially on Merlot. The 2008 Presshouse has delicious texture mingled with plum aromas, coffee notes, licorice, vanilla and toast hints.
48% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon
"A new brand from Jackson Family Wines, Farrier is made at Stonestreet by Graham Weerts. The Presshouse, from the Legacy Vineyard, is a floral Cabernet blend with tart red cherry flavors and some fruit fatness. Mineral tannins lends structure, but it's the fruit that lasts. Pour it with a grilled butterflied leg of lamb."
