Winemaker's Notes

This 100% Sangiovese is intense and bright ruby red in color, with aromas of ripe cherry and strawberry. The excellent balance between fruit and acidity, and the slightly spicy notes on the finish are the unmistakable hallmarks of this wine. The soft and silky tannins frame the pleasant texture of this pure Sangiovese.

One of the best Sangioveses I've ever tasted, including the 2001's I sampled in Tuscany last year. This is a big red for a little price. Brunello lovers on a budget will appreciate this one!

this wine needs at least 1 to 2 more years in bottle, silky tannins, high concentration of fruit. Different taste of sangiovese, good opportunity cost.

One of the best wines you'll find for the price. It's flavorful, great nose, it finish is bold, and it's easy to drink. We'll all wine is easy for me to drink, some just taste better. But for the money it's an A+ for sure.

Although not typically too far off, the experts got it wrong on this one. This is a $5.00 wine at $10.00 prices.

And it's no wonder, as this winery makes some of the top value wines in Italy, if not the world. Falesco's most popular wine is Vitiano, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese grown in Umbria. This is a perennial must-buy: It's lush and fruity, and always...

Abruzzi, Puglia, & Campania Abruzzi Kind of central, kind of southern, this region is best known for it's wine, Montapulciano d'Abruzzi - this wine is made from the Montelpulciano grape, unlike Vino Nobile di Montelpulciano, made with a Sangiovese clone in the region of Montelpuliciano. The Montelpulciano grape is happiest here in Abruzzi and the wine is rustic, yet soft...

Learn About Sangiovese

Sangiovese (SAHN-gee-oh-VAY-zee) Blood of Jove (literally translated) The principal grape of Chianti - in fact, the principle grape of all of Tuscany - has had its ups and downs. For a stint in the 70s and 80s, wines labeled Chianti contained cheap red wine packaged in a straw casked bottle, most popular for the candle holder it would become. But no more. Sangiovese re...
