winemaker's notes:

Number 11 on the Wine.com 100 of 2007!

A blend of equal parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes grown in the region of Umbria. Vitiano is vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged in Nevers barrels for 3 months before being bottled. This is a young red wine with explosive, luscious aromas. The wine has a wonderful deep, ruby red color with a wide range of organoleptic qualities. It is rich in polyphenols and balanced acidity. This versatile red is at it's best in its youth when the fresh fruit character is most evident. Vitiano is a perennial value.

"A wine with lovely balance and clean plum, berry and chocolate character, medium body and polished tannins. The perfect house wine--a great value. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2010." Wine Spectator  May 15, 2006

"...This serious effort possesses a deep ruby/purple-tinged color as well as lovely aromas of black currants, licorice, dried herbs, and earth. An amazing value..."

  What flavor! - 6/25/2008
I would buy this wine again

This had all the makings of a okay bottle of wine, but it turned out so much better. The roundness of the oak, and the clean finish were great. The slight bite and then the burst of flavor, great wine, and I'm cheap so the price is right too.

A Customer - Venice, FL
If you ordered this wine at your favorite eatery and paid $10.00 for a glass you would say aloud what a great wine for the price and order a second. This is a really fine wine for the unbeatable price of $10.00. What more do you want?? Great and highly reccommended.

A Customer - Los Angeles
A good wine for $10, but certainly not brilliant. Great color, good bouquet, solid fruit. I certainly wouldn't call the tannins "polished" -- my impression was a bit more rustic. Better than most $10 wines, but won't replace Jaboulet's Parallele 45 as my house red.

Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.

Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
