Butter, gamy, barnyard and spice on nose; Palate was buttery, with a little leather. Very full bodied; low-medium acid well balanced with low-medium tannin; Long finish with red fruit.

I was first introduced to the South African Pinotage while watching a special segment on NBC Today Show. Then upon a visit to my local wine store, inquired about it and was introduced to the Fairview Pinotage, 2005 vintage. I opened this bottle and shared it w/ my best friend in OH and we absolutely loved it! The spicy berry flavor is just right, not overbearing and the texture is very smooth, easy on the palate. I highly recommend it as a wine to share w/ friends or after a long hard day at the office. Paring it w/ food is not a necessity since the wine is capable of holding its own. Oh, and the really cool part about this wine, it got better w/ each glass we poured. Or maybe it was a combination of the good company, good conversation and a really good wine!
